ABT® Student Examinations - April 9th & 10th, 2011

ABT® Certified Teacher and Dance Director, Jennifer Bosco, will be presenting eligible students for ABT® Examinations on April 9th & 10th. Interested students can request to be tested. It is at the discretion of the Directors, with the advisement of teaching faculty, to determine who may participate and which level is appropriate.

Students that participate in examination must agree to the following guidelines:

Hair & Dress Code

1. Girls: Appropriate level ABT®-Capezio Academy Wear, or other pre-approved dancewear, must be worn for examination. Boys: Black tights, white fitted shirt, white socks and white shoes.

2. Girls must wear their hair in a bun. Boys hair must be groomed.

3. No jewelry, excluding small stud earrings, or bright fingernail polish may be worn.

4. A small hair piece that coordinates with dress code may be worn.

Class Attendance

Students participating in ABT® Examinations must enroll in the full curriculum for their testing level for both Winter and Spring Sessions. Attendance will be monitored and students MUST complete all classes & make-ups required for their level by the end of each month. Students that do not complete required classes may not be eligible to participate at the discretion of the Directors.

Level Placement

Students requesting to participating in ABT® Examinations will be observed in class during the month of January for correct level placement. Examination levels are determined by what is most appropriate for the individual student based on their current ability and mastery of curriculum materials. This is done in order to provide the most success and positive outcome during examination. It is typical that students to study in their examination level for a minimum of 1 year prior to testing. Students will be informed in February 2010 of their examination level placement.

Director/Teacher Conferences

Parents can request a conference with the Director to review level placement and current mastery of curriculum. Conferences are typically 30 minutes in duration and can be scheduled by emailing dance@theredchairschool.com.

Private Coaching

If necessary, private coaching is available $50 per hour and will be available for students that request one-on-one assistance.

Exam Lengths and Fees

Primary, Levels 1 & 2 60 minute class - $75

Level 3 90 minute class - $95

Examination Overview

Students will demonstrate a pre-learned class that covers all material in their level for an ABT® Adjudicator. Students will be arranged by height and presented as requested by the ABT® Adjudicator.

Examination Results

Students can pass successfully on 3 levels: PASS, PASS WITH HONORS or PASS WITH HIGH HONORS
