Ballet Dress Code
Uniforms create unity and are a badge of honor as higher levels are achieved. Undergarments should not be worn as leotards or exposed in class. Nude leotards are available that can be worn under the official uniform for students that would like the modesty of an additional layer of clothing. Skirts may be worn for Pointe work and no uniform is required for Pilates, however the student must be in clothing that allows them to move. Hair must be securely contained in a bun. Students with their hair not up in an appropriate manner will be asked to leave class until their hair is contained. Effective September 2009, The RC Ballet Conservatory will be implementing the dress code from the ABT® National Training Curriculum. The appropriate ABT® Uniform must be worn for ABT® all Curriculum Examinations. Capezio-ABT Academy Collection is the provider of the official dance wear. The RC School will allow students in class with the prior curriculum dance wear however starting April 2010 all dancers must be in the official uniform.
